It took 15 years of hard work, but now you can get all the taste, all the crunch, all the fun you crave with a lot less fat and fewer calories. How can this be? Our snacks are Water-Air Cooked™️. It’s our special process that makes them light and crunchy. Never greasy or oily. They are so much lighter than fried potato chips that 6 ounces of ours have about the same number of chips as 8 ounces of fried ones. You get more delicious chips in every ounce, but less fat and calories!​

​Our snacks are made with only three, all-natural ingredients: potatoes, sunflower oil and seasonings. We use real potato slices, not a dough, like baked chips. go free® chips are non-GMO and gluten-free, and have no preservatives.​​

All our products are made with all-natural ingredients: real, fresh slices of potatoes — 30% more potato, in fact, than the leading brand’s chips — a little sunflower oil and seasonings. That’s it. ​​

There’s a long list, though, of what’s not in our snacks: there are no GMOs, no saturated fat, no gluten, no preservatives, no cholesterol, no synthetic oils, no coloring agents, no artificial flavors. ​

Better for the environment

Our go free® equipment, methods and technology allow for environmentally friendly and sustainable production:​

  • go free® has a lower carbon footprint. Our estimated footprint is about 50% of comparable deep-fried products.​
  • go free® uses and disposes of significantly less oil than traditional deep-frying methods. In fact, when producing 141 pounds of potato chips, go free® uses 40 pounds less oil than used when producing the same amount of deep-fried chips.​
  • go free® methods and equipment don’t need as much energy as deep frying requires to make potato chips.​
  • go free®’s cooking methods allow oil to be applied at an ambient temperature to the chips and for this oil to be cooked only once. This removes much of the potential carcinogens that are part of deep frying. (Fried chips, on the other hand, are cooked in oil that is continuously heated at super high temperatures and reused several times.)​

About us

Founder and CEO Jamshid Ashourian formed JimmyAsh LLC in 2004. He wanted to figure out how to make everyday, popular foods healthier without them losing the taste and texture that made them so popular in the first place.  He wanted them made from wholesome, fresh ingredients and to use as little processing as possible. ​​

A partnership with a major Midwest university’s food processing center set him on the right path. And, when existing manufacturing equipment couldn’t do the job properly, he and engineering collaborators designed, tested and built ones that could.  It’s taken 15 years of collaboration and hard work to make his dream a reality. ​

​And now, the dream has expanded both in scope and in numbers. In 2015, JimmyAsh completed construction of its first, state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Bakersfield, Calif. Here, our delicious Water-Air Cooked™ snack foods are made, always using ingredients sourced in the United States.​​
